We do not publish direct telephone numbers or personal email addresses for named individuals. This page carries none, and it will not carry them if you ask.

A senior municipal official is contacted through the municipality, not personally. A municipality has a call centre, a reference system and a published service standard, and a complaint that arrives with a reference number is one that can be traced.

ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory. We have no relationship with any individual named in a search query, and we cannot pass a message to anyone.

What you probably need instead

Almost every enquiry that reaches a senior official’s office belongs to the municipality’s own service channels, which are faster because they are the ones that generate a reference.

What you are trying to doWhere it actually goes
A service fault: water, electricity, refuse, roadsThe municipal call centre, with a reference number. Nothing is traced without one.
A stalled fault you already reportedThe call centre again with the original reference, then the ward councillor, who can escalate internally.
A billing disputeThe municipality’s own billing dispute process, in writing. An account in formal dispute should not be handed over while the dispute runs.
A by-law or enforcement matterThe municipality’s law enforcement or by-law unit.
Maladministration or undue delayThe Public Protector, once the municipality has had its chance.

Making a municipal complaint that gets traced

  1. Get a reference number for every fault report. Municipal systems trace on the reference and nothing else.
  2. Know who supplies what. In some areas electricity is supplied by Eskom directly rather than by the municipality, and the account tells you which.
  3. Use the ward councillor as the internal escalation. Councillor details are published by the municipality.
  4. Do not stop paying the undisputed portion of an account during a billing dispute, because withholding the whole account is what leads to disconnection.
  5. Keep dates and reference numbers. A complaint to the Public Protector is built out of them.

Why this page carries no personal details

The rule is applied to everyone equally, whether the request comes from a member of the public, a journalist or the person themselves.

Billing disputes with a municipality

Municipal billing generates more complaints than any other local government function, and the process for disputing one is specific.

Complaints and escalation

Raise it with the municipality first, keeping every reference number, then the ward councillor. Unresolved municipal complaints go to the Public Protector, which investigates maladministration and undue delay in local government free of charge and will ask what the municipality was given the chance to do first.

Frequently asked questions

How do I contact a Minister's or an MEC's office?

In writing, through the department, with the reference number for the underlying matter. Such an office deals with policy and formal representations rather than individual service delivery.

Will you publish a public official's personal number?

No. We do not publish any named individual’s direct line or personal email address.

Can the Public Protector overturn a decision?

It investigates improper conduct and maladministration and can recommend remedial action. It does not sit as an appeal against a lawful decision properly made.

Can ContactDetails.co.za pass on a message?

No. We are an independent directory with no relationship to any individual named in a search.
