The line is open Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 17:00 and is closed on weekends and public holidays. Gap New Business works Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00.

Gap cover options and support
Discovery offers three gap cover options, with an overall annual limit of R219,846 per person:
- Active: from R53, covering up to 100% of the scheme rate.
- Core: from R171, covering up to 250%, and up to R85,000 a year for approved cancer-related claims after the scheme’s oncology threshold.
- Comprehensive: from R270, covering up to 500%, and up to R100,000 a year for approved cancer-related claims. It adds scopes and scans co-payments, a travel benefit for emergency claims outside South Africa, and third-trimester maternity shortfalls.
Eligibility and policy requirements
Gap cover is available to members of Discovery Health Medical Scheme, except members on KeyCare plans. New members who joined the scheme within the last six months and had no active gap cover in the last 90 days can get three months at no cost; standard waiting periods apply.
The underwriter is Discovery Insure Ltd, registration number 2009/011882/06, a licensed insurer and authorised financial services provider.
