Momentum GapCover+ is a gap cover product for Momentum Medical Scheme members, underwritten by Guardrisk Insurance Company Limited; it is not a medical aid, and Momentum says it is a separate entity from the scheme.

Momentum’s gap cover page lists its contact details in a Momentum Medical Scheme client service panel. For questions about your GapCover policy, email the Guardrisk policy servicing mailbox, MGCpolicyservicing@guardrisk.co.za.
The panel’s business hours are Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00 and Saturday from 08:00 to 16:00, closed on Sundays and public holidays. You can also WhatsApp Momentum’s health-e bot on 0860 117 859, or request a call back from the gap cover page on momentum.co.za.
GapCover product and claims support
Momentum GapCover+ comes in two options: GapCover Primary, the more affordable option, and GapCover Supreme, the more extensive one. Cover starts from R282 per month.
- Cover level by scheme option: Ingwe, Custom and Evolve members are covered up to 400%, Incentive and Extender up to 800%, and Summit up to 1 200% of the Momentum Medical Scheme Rate.
- Annual limit: shortfall benefits add up to a maximum of R219 800 per insured person per year.
- Casualty benefit: up to R24 000 for accident-related casualty visits within 24 hours, limited to 5 visits per family per year.
- Claims: shortfall claims are processed without a claim form, because the system picks up potential GapCover claims. Assist benefits on Supreme, such as cancer assist and accidental death or disability, need a claim form.
Eligibility and policy requirements
- You must remain an active Momentum Medical Scheme member to stay eligible.
- No dependants may be added if the principal insured is over 65 at application, or on Millennial GapCover.
- A 12-month condition-specific waiting period applies to pre-existing conditions for individuals and groups under 20. It is waived for compulsory groups of more than 10 members.
- Cover only becomes active once your medical aid is activated.
To apply:
- Speak to an accredited financial adviser, which Momentum recommends, and choose Primary or Supreme.
- Complete the 2026 Individual application form for GapCover.
- Email the completed and signed form to healthnewbusiness@momentumhealth.co.za.
