Discovery Health emergency number
For a medical emergency, or when you need medically equipped transport, call Discovery 911 on 0860 999 911 and give your medical aid membership number. It is answered at all hours. From outside South Africa, Discovery lists +27 11 529 6900. Save both numbers in your phone and in the phones of your dependants, so they are ready if you cannot make the call yourself. For a life-threatening emergency where you cannot reach Discovery 911, South Africa’s general emergency numbers still apply.
Discovery Health authorisation number
Hospital authorisations are requested on 0860 99 88 77, the same number Discovery lists for claims queries, benefit information, membership updates and debit order queries. Discovery asks you to have your membership number ready. The line is open Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 20:00 and on Saturdays from 08:00 to 13:00, and is closed on Sundays and public holidays. For a planned hospital stay, call during those hours before your admission date; in an emergency, call Discovery 911 first.
Discovery Health provider contact number
Doctors, practices and other healthcare professionals call 0860 44 55 66 or email healthpartnerinfo@discovery.co.za. Discovery says this line handles queries unique to healthcare professionals, such as validating memberships, confirming benefits, claims queries and benefit information, and asks callers to have their practice number and the patient’s details ready. It is open Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 18:00 and closed on weekends and public holidays. Providers already registered on the Discovery website who cannot access the Health Professional Zone can complete a request form on the contact page. Patients should not use this line; members use 0860 99 88 77.
Discovery Health claims contact number
Members with a claims query call 0860 99 88 77. For simple questions, Discovery’s WhatsApp service lets you ask a question or request a document and get an instant answer at any time, with agents available on chat Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 17:00. To start, use the “Get help on WhatsApp” link on Discovery’s Contact Us page, which takes you through WhatsApp registration. Discovery Health for employers and financial advisers
Employers with billing enquiries, administration changes or general membership and maintenance queries call 0860 99 88 77 or email administration@discovery.co.za. Discovery notes that employers on a cash scheme should contact their Portfolio Administrator instead. Financial advisers and intermediaries call 0860 345 678 or email adviserqueries@discovery.co.za for new business, underwriting and commission queries; new business and underwriting are open Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:00, and commissions Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 17:00 and Friday 08:00 to 16:00.

Report suspected fraud, such as a provider billing for treatment you did not receive, to the Discovery Fraudline. Its toll-free number is 0800 004 500, open at all hours, or you can SMS 43477, send a toll-free fax to 0800 007 788, email discovery@tip-offs.com, or post to Freepost DN298, Umhlanga Rocks, 4320.
