Note the two similar claims numbers. Claims run on 0860 24 7 365 (shared-cost), while roadside and home emergency assistance is the toll-free 0800 24 7 365. Under pressure at the roadside, the 0800 line is the one you want.
Mailboxes sit on the ominsure.co.za domain rather than oldmutual.co.za – that is correct, not a phishing sign.
What this organisation provides
Old Mutual Insure underwrites personal, commercial and agricultural short-term insurance, sold both directly and through brokers, with operations extending into Botswana, Zimbabwe and Nigeria under the Old Mutual brand.
Whether you bought through a broker decides which number you use. Broker-placed policies are serviced on the broker line, and direct policies on the direct line – the two are separate service channels, and using the wrong one means a transfer.
Quote emails are split by region for new business but not for existing policies, where a single mailbox covers all areas.
Address and operating information
Old Mutual Insure does not publish a head office street address or call centre operating hours on this page. Claims and emergency assistance are the exception – both run 24 hours, as their numbers indicate.
Have your policy number ready. For a motor claim, the vehicle registration and the date, time and place of the incident are the first things asked for.
Support and escalation routes
Report a claim on 0860 24 7 365 as soon as possible – short-term policies carry notification deadlines, and late reporting is a common reason a claim is questioned. Confirm in writing to [email protected] and keep the claim number.
If a claim is rejected or underpaid, ask for the decision and the policy clause relied on in writing before escalating. That document is what an ombud will ask for first.
An unresolved short-term insurance dispute goes to the National Financial Ombud Scheme, which handles non-life insurance complaints free of charge. Conduct by a broker or adviser falls to the Financial Sector Conduct Authority instead.
