Sanlam Pension Fund Contact Details

Verified 12 September 2026Official source onlyIndependent directoryReport a wrong number

A Sanlam pension fund is almost always one your employer chose. You did not sign up with Sanlam yourself: your employer’s fund, or a Sanlam umbrella fund your employer joined, holds your retirement savings. So the route in is the corporate member line, not Sanlam’s individual client desk. Read from sanlamonline.co.za on 12 September 2026.

Official contact channels for fund members

  • Sanlam Corporate member line: 0861 223 646, Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:00
  • Sanlam Member Portal and the Sanlam Portfolio app, for your fund value, statements and beneficiaries
  • A retirement fund self-service channel on WhatsApp, and a call-back request to a benefit counsellor, both from the member page

Through the self-service channel you can check a claim status and your fund value, and get help registering for online access or resetting a password. The benefit counsellors are the people to ask about options, rather than a general call centre agent.

What to have ready

  • Your employer’s name and the name of the fund, taken from a benefit statement or your payslip deduction
  • Your ID number and, if you have it, your member number
  • Your date of exit if you have left the employer

Leaving your job: the call that matters most

When you resign or are retrenched, the fund needs an instruction from you about your benefit, and Sanlam’s member page lists this as its own help topic. Speak to a benefit counsellor before you choose to take cash. A cash withdrawal is taxed and ends the saving. Leaving the money in the fund or transferring it to a preservation fund or a retirement annuity keeps it growing. Your employer usually has to process your exit first, so if Sanlam says it has no instruction, check with your old HR department.

Address and operating information

Sanlam head office: 2 Strand Road, Bellville, and 11 West Street, Houghton Estate, Johannesburg. Members are served by phone and online; the addresses are not walk-in service counters for fund queries.

Support and escalation routes

A pension fund is governed by its trustees, and a complaint about it is a fund complaint. Put it in writing to the fund first. If it is not resolved, the Pension Funds Adjudicator deals with pension, provident and retirement fund complaints, including a benefit that was not paid. The Adjudicator’s number is 080 074 4444 and its email is enquiries@pfa.org.za (verified on pfa.org.za on 18 August 2026). A dispute about an employer that deducted contributions but did not pay them over also belongs with the Adjudicator.
