Call Centre options

When you call 0860 103 089, you will be routed by option: Option 1 for accounts and general queries (Monday to Friday 07:00 to 21:00, Saturdays 08:00 to 14:00, Sundays and public holidays 09:00 to 13:00), Option 2 for water queries (24/7), Option 3 for electricity queries (24/7), and Option 4 for motor vehicle queries (Monday to Friday 07:30 to 17:00).

The City lists the call centre number, 086 010 3089 (the same line as 0860 103 089), as the enquiries number for each walk-in centre. There are no separate branch numbers.

Strand and Plumstead also handle motor vehicle registration. Kuils River handles account enquiries and payments only. You can book a walk-in centre visit online on capetown.gov.za to avoid queues. No walk-in centre publishes public holiday hours. On Sundays and public holidays the call centre’s accounts option runs from 09:00 to 13:00.

City of Cape Town water and sanitation and sewerage contact number

Water and sanitation emergencies, sewerage problems, accounts and general queries go to 0860 103 089 (Option 2, 24/7). You can also email water@capetown.gov.za, send a WhatsApp to 060 018 1505, or SMS a fault to 31373 (free SMSes do not apply). No separate toll-free water number is published.

Electricity, solid waste, rates and traffic fines

The City’s contact page does not publish a separate reconnection department email, a Large Power User (LPU) contact or a White Road electricity office address. Use power@capetown.gov.za or accounts@capetown.gov.za instead.

How to contact the Mayor’s Office

The Office of the Executive Mayor is on 021 400 1301 or 021 400 1300, email mayor.mayor@capetown.gov.za. The Mayor’s page on capetown.gov.za also has online forms to request a meeting with the Executive Mayor or to invite the Mayor.
