WeBuyCars runs a Pietermaritzburg branch, one of three in KwaZulu-Natal alongside Riverhorse and Springfield in Durban. What it does not run is a branch telephone line. The group publishes one national contact centre number and per-branch trading hours, and nothing else at branch level, so the number below is the one that reaches Pietermaritzburg.
Contact and trading hours
- National contact centre: 087 057 0000, closed on Sundays
- Monday to Friday: 09h00 to 18h00
- Saturday: 08h00 to 15h00
- Sunday: closed
- Public holidays: 08h00 to 15h00
The branch trades on public holidays at Saturday hours while the call centre does not answer on Sundays, so a Sunday query has to wait even though the branch itself is shut anyway.
No branch number, and why that matters
Because there is no direct line, anything you agree in person needs to be in writing before you leave. A follow-up call goes to a national queue where the person answering was not at your inspection. Ask for the branch reference and the name of the buyer who assessed the car, and keep the written offer and the inspection report.
The KwaZulu-Natal branches
- Pietermaritzburg, which serves the Midlands and inland KZN
- Riverhorse, in the Riverhorse Valley area of Durban
- Springfield, in the Springfield Park area of Durban
If Pietermaritzburg cannot take your vehicle, the two Durban branches are the alternatives, and the contact centre can tell you which one is buying your make.
Selling a car here
Start with the free online valuation on webuycars.co.za so you have an indicative figure before travelling. The firm offer is made only after a physical inspection, and it can differ from the online estimate once mechanical condition, tyres, service history and outstanding recalls are assessed. Take the registration certificate, your identity document, proof of address, both keys, the service book and, if the car is financed, a current settlement quotation from the bank. A car still under finance can be sold, but the settlement is paid to the bank first and you receive the balance.
If something goes wrong
- Raise it on 087 057 0000, quoting the branch and the offer reference, and ask for it in writing
- A dispute about a deduction is settled against the inspection report, so keep your copy
- For an unresolved vehicle sale dispute, the Motor Industry Ombudsman of South Africa is the external route
