Uber Contact Details
Uber South Africa has no public phone number for riders and no office open to walk-ins. Riders get support in the Uber app or at help.uber.com. Drivers can get face-to-face help only at Uber’s Greenlight Hubs in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and they must book the visit in the Driver app. The only phone line Uber publishes in South Africa is Uber for Business support, +27 10 500 9768, which is for business account administrators. The Uber for Business phone line is “available only for admins”. Uber says employees who travel on a business account should use normal Uber support in the app. Uber for Business support covers programme administrators and coordinators: monthly billing, account statements, login credentials and payment methods. Rider support covers everyone using the Uber app and anyone ordering through Uber Eats.
Uber offices and Greenlight Hubs
Uber’s South African driver contact page says in-person support is available only at its Johannesburg and Cape Town Greenlight locations. Uber does not list the hub addresses on its public website. You see the address and time slot when you book. To book:
- Open Help in the Uber Driver app.
- Tap Book an in person appointment.
- Choose the issue you need help with.
- Tap Schedule an appointment.
Uber does not publish a head office address in Cape Town or opening hours for walk-in visitors. Whether a hub is open on a given day depends on the appointment slots in the app. Greenlight Hubs also issue documents drivers need for their operating licence, such as the Uber support letter and the point-of-origin letter.
Operating licence offices for Uber drivers
Uber’s South African blog lists the Department of Transport offices where drivers apply for an operating licence. These are government offices, not Uber offices:

In Gauteng, applicants need certified copies of their ID, a SARS tax compliance certificate, proof of address no older than 3 months, and the Uber support letter. In Cape Town, applicants need proof of address and Form 10, which is available at the Greenlight Hub.
Rider safety
Uber’s safety page asks riders to check three things before getting into a car: the licence plate number, the make and model, and the driver’s photo in the app. Safety features in the app let you share your location with family and get help if something goes wrong. Uber says anyone who does not follow its Community Guidelines can be removed from the platform.
Background checks for drivers
If a background check shows a pending case or a conviction, Uber’s screening page sends drivers to a Criminal Record Centre. It lists centres in Pretoria (012 393 3928), Cape Town (021 467 6130), Durban (031 333 8202) and Gqeberha (041 394 6000). Once a record is cleared, you upload the new result to your profile and visit a Greenlight Hub to be reactivated.
