There is no Booking.com office in Johannesburg that will take your call about a booking. Booking.com’s own “Offices worldwide” page is unusually blunt about this, and it is worth reading before you go looking for a local number.
What Booking.com actually says
Booking.com B.V. is registered in Amsterdam and is the owner, controller and manager of booking.com. Around the world it is supported by local companies — in this country, Booking.com South Africa Pty Ltd. Booking.com states that these support companies do not provide an online reservation service, do not own, control, host, manage or maintain the website, and that Booking.com is domiciled only at its registered office in Amsterdam and not at the offices of any support company. It adds that the support companies are not authorised to act as process or service agents for Booking.com.
In plain terms: the South African entity is a marketing and partner-support company. It is not a customer service desk, not a walk-in booking office, and not an address at which Booking.com can be served with legal papers.
How to actually reach Booking.com from Johannesburg
- A booking already made: open the My Bookings page or the confirmation email — each reservation carries its own contact link and the property’s direct number.
- General queries: the Help Centre on booking.com, reached from “Get help with your reservation” at the top of any page.
- A property owner or manager needing help: Contact Partner Support, or the Partner Community, both linked from the Contact Us page.
Booking.com publishes no public switchboard number at all, in any country. Customer service is opened from inside a reservation, which is why the number changes depending on which booking you are asking about.
Other routes on the same page
- Press: the Booking.com Press Centre.
- Legal information, including the Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act notices: the Legal section.
- Public authorities: the official request submission form, which is the correct channel rather than the local support company.
- Business travel: Booking.com for Business has its own service pages.
The Johannesburg office scam
Because Booking.com has no local call centre, “Booking.com Johannesburg” numbers circulating on directory sites and in search ads are worth treating with suspicion. A known fraud pattern targets travellers who have just booked: a message arrives that appears to come from the property or from Booking.com, saying the card failed and asking for a fresh payment through a link. Booking.com will never ask for card details by email or WhatsApp, and a genuine property payment is arranged inside the platform. If you get one, open the booking through the app or the confirmation email rather than through the link, and report it through the Help Centre.
