Call costs

Calling 135 from a Cell C phone is free. Cell C states that calls to 084 135 made from any other network or from a Telkom line are charged at normal rates, so use 135 where you can.

112 is free from any cellphone on any network, with or without airtime, and is the number to use in an emergency.

What to have ready

Have your Cell C number, your ID number as the registered account holder, and your account or contract number if the query relates to a contract. Ask for a reference number and keep it, since a follow-up quoting the original reference is treated as a continuation rather than a new query.

Never share a PIN or OTP

Cell C will not ask for your SIM swap PIN, a one-time PIN or your banking OTP. Never share these with anyone claiming to be from the network. If you lose signal unexpectedly and cannot make calls, contact Cell C immediately, since that can indicate an unauthorised SIM swap.

Complaints and escalation

Raise the complaint with Cell C first and get a reference number in writing. If it is not resolved within their stated timeframe, escalate to the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) on 012 568 3000 or [email protected].
