DStv call centre number: when to call and what to have ready
MultiChoice states that 011 289 2222 and help@dstv.com are the contacts for all general DStv, billing and customer queries. That makes the call centre the right route for things self-service cannot settle, such as a disputed debit order, a package change you want explained, or a fault that keeps returning after you have cleared it.
Before you call, have these ready:
- the smartcard number or the account holder’s ID number
- the exact error code on screen, if there is one, because it tells the agent straight away whether the problem is payment, signal or hardware
- the date and amount of any payment you are querying
Ask for a reference number at the end of every call and write it down with the date. If you need to follow up, quoting that reference saves repeating the whole story.

Is there a 24-hour DStv customer care number?

It is built for the everyday account jobs that make up most calls to the call centre, so it is the right first stop when the problem is a balance, a payment or a blocked signal rather than a dispute that needs a person to investigate.
The DStv self service USSD code, *120*68584#, covers the same core tasks without data. DStv lists four things it handles:
- checking what you owe
- clearing error codes
- viewing your transactions
- reconnecting packages
The code identifies you by the cellphone number registered on the DStv account, so it will not find your account if you dial from someone else’s phone. The digits 68584 spell MULTI on a phone keypad, which makes it easier to remember. If your service was suspended for non-payment and you have since paid, reconnecting through USSD or WhatsApp avoids the wait for an agent.

DStv email address and the accounts department
The published email address for DStv customer, billing and general queries is help@dstv.com. DStv does not publish a separate phone number or mailbox for an “accounts department”; billing and account questions go to the same email address and the same call centre. Email works best when you need a written record, for example when you are disputing a charge. Put your smartcard or account number in the subject line so the message can be matched to your account.
DStv proof of payment email address
DStv does not publish a dedicated proof of payment email address on its South African help pages; billing queries go to help@dstv.com. If you bank outside Absa, FNB, Standard Bank, Nedbank or Capitec, or someone else pays your account, WhatsApp your proof of banking and signed Authority to Debit form to 060 060 3788 to set up a debit order. If an employer pays a personal account, take an original letter on company letterhead with the company’s banking details to a MultiChoice branch or agency.
How to cancel DStv: online, WhatsApp and cancellation number
DStv does not publish a dedicated cancellation email address or cancellation phone number. To cancel a DStv package online, go to My Products on dstv.com, select the package, choose the Disconnect icon and schedule the disconnection. You can also cancel in the MyDStv app or on WhatsApp at 060 060 3788. For help, the general call centre is 011 289 2222.
Under DStv’s cancellation policy, a package cancellation is a scheduled disconnection that takes effect on your next payment date. You can reconnect later on the same channels: the website, the MyDStv app or WhatsApp.
DStv Internet contracts cannot be cancelled online; DStv asks you to contact it directly so it can explain the costs and arrange the cancellation. There is a 7-day cooling-off period, and from day 8 cancellation fees apply if you cancel within the first 22 months of the contract. Cancelling a DStv subscription taken as part of an internet deal also cancels the internet contract.
DStv complaints email and escalation
Start any complaint with the call centre or help@dstv.com and keep the reference number. MultiChoice also publishes a formal complaints policy, written for customers who hold its insurance and financial products, such as decoder insurance. Under that policy a complaint must be made in writing, either handed in at a MultiChoice Customer Experience Centre or emailed to dcc@multichoice.co.za. That mailbox is confirmed for insurance claims, cancellations and complaints only; it is not a general DStv subscription address. The policy commits to:
- acknowledging the complaint within five business days
- resolving it within ten business days of receipt
- allowing referral to the relevant ombud if it is not resolved internally within six weeks
To report fraud or unethical conduct involving MultiChoice, the group’s anonymous Tip-offs Anonymous line is 0800 222 395 in South Africa, and the table above gives fraud@multichoice.co.za for MultiChoice Forensic Services. Use these for suspected scams or staff misconduct, not for account queries.
DStv service centres: addresses, hours and numbers
DStv lists five walk-in centres and lets you book an appointment online before visiting. All are closed on Sundays and public holidays, even though the call centre is open on those days, so a smartcard replacement or decoder swap needs a weekday or Saturday visit.

DStv lists Supasat at 26 Victoria Street, Mthatha (047 531 4133, supasat@telkomsa.net) as an agency in its Eastern Region, not as an individual installer. Installations can only be done by DStv Accredited Installers: find one, book an appointment or track an installation at dstv.com/en-za/dstv-accredited-installation.
