Medihelp is a registered South African medical scheme. It routes a great deal of its member service through named service providers rather than through one call centre, so knowing which provider handles what will save you several transfers. Everything below was read from the Medihelp contact page on 31 August 2026.
Official contact channels
- Client care, general enquiries: 0860 100 678
- Membership and contributions enquiries: 0860 100 678, the same client care centre
- International callers: +27 12 336 9000
- Advisers: 012 336 9099 or 012 336 9199
- Medical emergencies: Netcare 911 emergency medical transport, 082 911
The two 012 336 numbers are both adviser lines, not member lines. If you are a member rather than a broker, use 0860 100 678. The 082 911 number reaches Netcare 911 for emergency medical transport and is the only number here to use in an emergency.
What this organisation provides
Medihelp provides medical scheme cover across a range of benefit options, and contracts specialist providers to deliver parts of the benefit. Each has its own contact details:
- Medipost, chronic and courier medicine: 012 426 4000, [email protected]; order medicine [email protected]; proof of payment [email protected]
- Dental Risk Company: 087 943 9618, authorisations [email protected], claims [email protected]
- Opticlear, optical services: 087 359 1525
- LifeSense, disease management: [email protected]; prescriptions and pathology [email protected]
- Dis-Chem Direct, medicine: [email protected]
One caution on Dis-Chem Direct: Medihelp publishes its telephone number as 010 589 2788 in the page text, while the click-to-call link on the same page dials 011 589 2788. The two differ by a digit, so confirm which is correct with client care on 0860 100 678 before relying on either, or use the email address instead.
Medihelp also publishes mailboxes for provider-facing work: hospital authorisations at [email protected], the GP network at [email protected], the pharmacy network at [email protected] and the specialist network at [email protected]. Members generally do not need these – your provider uses them – but they are useful if a practice claims it cannot reach the scheme.
Address and operating information
- Street address: 189 Clark Street, Brooklyn, Pretoria, 0181
- Postal address: PO Box 26004, Arcadia, 0007
- Visiting hours: Mondays to Fridays, 07:30 to 15:30
Note how early the head office closes to visitors – 15:30, not 17:00 – and that it does not open at weekends. If you are delivering documents in person, arrive well before closing. Claims and most member tasks can be submitted through the Medihelp Member Zone instead, which is the route the scheme prefers.
Support and escalation routes
Medihelp runs a dedicated fraud line separate from client care:
- Fraudline: 012 334 2428
- Fraud email: [email protected]
For a benefit or claim complaint, start with client care on 0860 100 678 and ask for a reference. If the scheme does not resolve it, Medihelp itself points members to the statutory regulator, which exists to resolve disputes between medical schemes and their members that cannot be settled between them:
- Council for Medical Schemes: 0861 123 267
- Complaints: [email protected]
- Fax: 086 673 2466
If your complaint concerns one of the contracted providers above rather than Medihelp itself, say so explicitly – the scheme remains accountable for the benefit, but the facts will come from the provider.
