Netstar – formerly Altech Netstar, and today part of Altron – pioneered vehicle tracking and stolen vehicle recovery in South Africa in 1994. The contact details below were read from netstar.co.za on 2 September 2026.

Official contact channels

Netstar publishes two national numbers that do very different jobs. 0800 11 22 22 is the emergency line – the one to use if a vehicle has been stolen or hijacked, when recovery depends on how fast the report lands. 0860 12 24 36 is the support centre and sales number, and it also works on WhatsApp. Ringing the support line about a theft costs time recovery cannot spare, so save the emergency number separately, before you need it.

Departments have their own mailboxes, and using the right one avoids a hand-off:

Netstar’s branch listings also name a manager for each branch and give that person’s individual work address. Those are on Netstar’s own site if you need them; we list branch numbers and role mailboxes rather than reproduce individuals’ addresses here.

What this organisation provides

Stolen vehicle recovery, vehicle and fleet tracking, fleet management, insurance telematics and fleet intelligence services.

The WhatsApp bot handles the paperwork most people phone about. Message 0860 12 24 36 and send “Hi” for a menu covering account statements, invoices, fitment certificates, test certificates, finding your vehicle’s location, upgrade options, account details and contract cancellation. A fitment or test certificate is usually what an insurer is waiting for, and the bot issues it without a queue.

Address and operating information

Head office: Netstar Head Office, Central Park Offices, 16th Road, Midrand 1685 – 011 207 5500, [email protected].

Netstar prints the Gqeberha number as “041 0010 890”, which is misspaced. Dial it as 041 001 0890. Branches are the right route for fitment appointments and physical work on a unit.

Support and escalation routes

Cancellation goes to retentions, and that is deliberate. The team handling cancellations also handles upgrades and renewals, so expect a counter-offer. Put the cancellation in writing, keep a copy, and confirm the last billing date – a verbal cancellation is hard to prove when a debit order continues.

Report fraud or unethical conduct to the independent Altron ethics line at [email protected], which sits outside the company.

Beyond Netstar, a contract, billing or debit order dispute falls under the Consumer Protection Act and can go to the National Consumer Commission or the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud. Where tracking is a condition of your policy, an insurance dispute goes to the National Financial Ombud Scheme. Because tracking collects continuous location data, a privacy complaint goes to the Information Regulator under POPIA.
