NCR complaints email and how to complain
The NCR’s Complaints page says anyone may lodge a complaint by phone on 0860 627 627, by email to complaints@ncr.org.za, or by visiting the office, Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 17:00 and Friday 08:00 to 16:30. The formal route is the complaint initiation form, Form 29, which you can download from the Complaints page. If you are complaining on someone else’s behalf, you must complete both the complaint initiation form and the consent form. The NCR assesses each enquiry under the National Credit Act; if it finds an alleged contravention, it captures the complaint, generates a reference number and allocates it to an officer.
The NCR’s Circular 3 of 2025 says emailed enquiries and complaints to complaints@ncr.org.za are acknowledged and, after assessment, given a reference number, and lists turnaround times of 3 and 9 business days for these steps. The NCR handles complaints about contraventions of the National Credit Act by credit providers, credit bureaus, debt counsellors, payment distribution agents and alternative dispute resolution agents. Its Complaints page links to brochures explaining who can complain, which complaints it can handle and which fall outside its mandate.
Where to email NCR forms
- Complaint initiation form (Form 29) and consent form: complaints@ncr.org.za
- Registration queries, contact detail changes, renewals, cancellations and certificates: registrations@ncr.org.za
- Debt counsellors’ Form 41 and 42 returns: DCreturns@ncr.org.za
- Debt Help System status code updates: DHSupdates@ncr.org.za
- Credit provider report submissions: Submissions@ncr.org.za; alternative dispute resolution agents: adra@ncr.org.za
- Formal investigations: IEdcomplaints@ncr.org.za; matters before the National Consumer Tribunal: Litigation@ncr.org.za
The NCR’s circular asks people to use these dedicated mailboxes rather than individual officials’ addresses, and warns that emails sent to personal addresses where a dedicated mailbox exists will not be attended to. The forms themselves, including Form 2 (credit provider registration), Form 4 (debt counsellor), Form 5 (credit bureau), Form 16 (application for debt review) and Form 19 (clearance certificate), are on the NCR’s List of Forms page.
NCR banking details
Registration fees are paid to the NCR’s bank account. The NCR’s “Annexure: Confirmation of payment of fees” form, which applicants attach to a credit provider registration, gives these details:
- Account name: National Credit Regulator
- Bank: Standard Bank of South Africa, Parktown branch, branch code 000355
- Current account number: 200456490
- Reference: your ID or passport number if you apply as a natural person, or your company registration number if you apply as a juristic person
That form is dated 2017, so confirm the details with the NCR on 011 554 2700 or registrations@ncr.org.za before paying. The NCR’s registration pages list a non-refundable application fee of R550 and a branch fee of R250 per location; debt counsellors pay an initial registration fee of R500, and credit providers pay a fee based on their total principal debt. These fees apply to businesses and individuals registering with the NCR.
NCR cyber-attack notice
On 12 December 2025, the NCR published a notice on its home page saying it had been the victim of a cyber-attack that disrupted some systems, and that it was investigating whether personal information was affected. It urged the public to be cautious of suspicious emails, unknown links and unusual messages claiming to be from the NCR, and to consider free Protective Registration with the Southern African Fraud Prevention Service. For queries about the incident, the notice gives Enquiries@ncr.org.za. Because of this, check any message asking you to pay the NCR or share personal information against the numbers on ncr.org.za before acting.
NCR office move
The NCR’s contacts page says operations at its former premises, 232 15th Road, Randjespark, stopped on 18 July 2025. All operations now run from 127 15th Road, Randjespark, Midrand, 1683. Some pages on the NCR site still show the old address for the call centre, complaints and investigations, so use 127 15th Road if you visit in person.
