To lodge a complaint with the National Credit Regulator, call 0860 627 627 or email complaints@ncr.org.za. The NCR’s Complaints Department receives complaints about alleged breaches of the National Credit Act by credit providers, credit bureaus, debt counsellors, payment distribution agents and ADR agents; the Call Centre is a division of that department.

Official NCR complaints route
You can lodge a complaint by telephone on 0860 627 627, in writing to complaints@ncr.org.za, or by visiting the office at 127 – 15th Road, Randjespark, Midrand. The NCR Reception number is 011 554 2700. The walk-in office and call centre are open Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 17:00 and on Friday from 08:00 to 16:30.
Under section 15 of the National Credit Act, the Complaints Department receives and evaluates alleged contraventions of the Act and promotes informal resolution between consumers and credit providers or credit bureaus. The NCR also publishes a page on complaints that fall outside its mandate, so check that first if you are unsure.
Note that the NCR says operations at its old address, 232 – 15th Road, ceased on 18 July 2025, even though that address still appears in the site footer. Use 127 – 15th Road.
What you need before contacting the NCR
Complete the complaint initiation form, Form 29, which you download from the Complaints department page on ncr.org.za. If you are complaining on behalf of a consumer, you must submit both Form 29 and the Regulation 50(5) written consent form.
Step-by-step complaints process
- Download and complete Form 29.
- If you are complaining for someone else, also complete the Regulation 50(5) written consent form.
- Submit your complaint to complaints@ncr.org.za, call 0860 627 627, or visit 127 – 15th Road, Randjespark.
- Expect an acknowledgement of an emailed complaint within 3 business days. After assessment, the complaint gets a reference number, within 9 business days, and is allocated to an officer.
- Once you have a reference number, follow up with the officer allocated to your complaint.
Escalation route
Once a matter is under formal investigation in terms of section 25 of the National Credit Act, enquiries go to Investigations and Enforcement at IEdcomplaints@ncr.org.za. That mailbox is only for matters under formal investigation. If your matter already has an active case number at the National Consumer Tribunal, write to Litigation@ncr.org.za.
The NCR’s toll-free KPMG Ethics Line, 0800 20 53 17, is for reporting fraud or wrongdoing at the NCR itself, not for consumer complaints.
For other public bodies, browse the government hub or the government directory M to N listings.
