Official NCR registration route
The NCR asks applicants with questions about the application process to contact the Registrations Department on 011 554 2700 or at registrations@ncr.org.za. The NCR’s Circular 03 of 2025 lists the department’s direct lines as 011 554 2614 and 011 554 2619.
Besides new applications, the Registrations Department handles annual renewals, register updates, certificates and window decals. According to the circular, registrations@ncr.org.za deals with:
- changes to a registrant’s contact details
- voluntary cancellation, annual renewal and lapsing of registration
- registration and renewal certificates
- adding branches
- requests for a list of NCR registrants
The circular asks registrants to use these dedicated mailboxes rather than personal NCR addresses, or the email will not be attended to. General questions go to the NCR Call Centre on 0860 627 627 or info@ncr.org.za.
What you need before contacting the NCR
A person who is required to register as a credit provider but is not registered must not offer or extend credit or enter into a credit agreement. For a credit provider application, the NCR lists:
- a completed and signed Form 2
- the CIPC registration document, and share certificates for companies
- certified IDs of all members or directors, and a resolution for juristic persons
- SAPS criminal clearance certificates not older than 6 months
- a bank confirmation letter, cancelled cheque or stamped statement not older than 6 months
- proof of SARS registration
The fees are a non-refundable application fee of R550, a branch fee of R250 per location, and an initial registration fee based on principal debt, from R1 000 (under R250 000) to R330 000 (R15 billion or more). Supplementary registration for developmental credit (Section 41) also needs a motivation of your ability to provide developmental credit.
Step-by-step registration process
- Choose your registrant category (credit provider, debt counsellor, credit bureau, payment distribution agent, ADR agent or reseller credit bureau) and open its “Application forms” and “How do I register?” pages on the NCR site.
- Complete the forms and gather the supporting documents for your category.
- Pay the R550 application fee, R250 per branch and the initial registration fee for your category, and include proof of payment. Applications without all the required items are not processed.
- Send application-process questions to registrations@ncr.org.za or call 011 554 2700.
- Once registered, confirm your listing on the NCR register of registrants, and use registrations@ncr.org.za for renewals, contact-detail updates, certificates and branch additions.
Escalation route
The NCR does not publish a separate escalation line for registrations. If the Registrations Department does not respond, call the NCR Call Centre on 0860 627 627 or reception on 011 554 2700. The offices are open Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 17:00 and on Friday from 08:00 to 16:30.
The NCR’s head office is now at 127 – 15th Road, Randjespark, Midrand, 1683. Its contacts page still lists the old 232 – 15th Road address, but the NCR’s relocation notice says operations moved to 127 – 15th Road. To report fraud or corruption, use the KPMG Ethics Line on 0800 20 53 17 (toll-free).
For other public bodies, browse the government hub or the government directory M to N listings.
