Capitec offers a credit card alongside its transactional and savings products. The contact details below were read from the Capitec Bank contact page on 2 September 2026.
Official provider route
- Client Care Centre, personal banking: 0860 10 20 43
- Business banking: 0860 30 92 50
- WhatsApp: 067 418 9565
- From outside South Africa: +27 21 440 3580
- Lost or stolen card, fraud: 0860 10 20 43, available 24 hours
Capitec runs one number for almost everything personal. 0860 10 20 43 covers the Client Care Centre, credit queries, a lost or stolen personal card and fraud reporting – and Capitec states it is a 24-hour line. There is no separate credit card desk to find.
Business cards route to the business number instead, and Capitec publishes separate routes for merchant support and overdue accounts.
Product or service support
If the card is gone, ring before you do anything else. Blocking a card is time-critical, and the 24-hour line exists for exactly that. Reporting later means disputing transactions rather than preventing them.
For a scam involving your account, Capitec asks that you report the crime to the SAPS immediately as well as calling the Client Care Centre. The police case number is what a dispute and any later claim rests on, so open it the same day.
Capitec will never phone you to ask for a PIN, an OTP, remote access to your phone, or a transfer to a “safe account”. Any such call is fraud regardless of what the caller ID shows – end it and dial 0860 10 20 43 yourself.
Eligibility, account or policy requirements
A credit card is a credit agreement under the National Credit Act, so it requires an affordability assessment, and the limit, interest and fees must be disclosed before you sign. Missed repayments are reported to the credit bureaux and affect your credit record, not just the card.
Have your identity number and account or card number ready. If you intend to settle, ask for a settlement figure rather than the statement balance – the two differ, and paying the balance can leave an amount outstanding.
Escalation route
Capitec publishes a dedicated complaints process on its site rather than routing complaints through the general line – use it, and keep the reference. It also publishes a route for reporting security vulnerabilities, which is separate from fraud on your own account.
If you are struggling to repay, raise it before falling into arrears. Under the National Credit Act you may also apply for debt review through a registered debt counsellor, which is a formal process with consequences worth understanding first.
An unresolved credit dispute goes to the National Credit Regulator or the Credit Ombud. A banking service failure – as distinct from the credit agreement – goes to the National Financial Ombud Scheme.
