The Builders store card is issued and administered by RCS, not by Builders. Staff in a Builders store cannot see your account, change a limit or take a payment arrangement, which is why the numbers below are RCS numbers.
Official contact channels
- RCS customer service: 0861 729 727
- Card enquiries: [email protected]
- Credit card enquiries: [email protected]
- Loan enquiries: [email protected]
- Insurance on the account: [email protected], claims at [email protected]
- Complaints: [email protected]
- Fraud: 021 597 4970 or [email protected]
RCS splits its mailboxes by product rather than by retailer, so there is no Builders specific address. Use the card enquiries mailbox for a store card and quote the account number, because RCS runs the same card programme for several different retail brands and the account is traced by number rather than by shop.
What this organisation provides
RCS provides store cards, credit cards, loans and related insurance, and it runs the card programmes behind a number of South African retail brands. It is a registered credit provider under NCRCP 38 and an authorised financial services provider under FSP 44481, and it publishes a whistleblowing channel through EthicsPoint as part of the BNP Paribas group.
Because it is a registered credit provider, the National Credit Act applies to the account. That means you are entitled to a pre agreement quotation setting out the interest rate, the initiation fee, the monthly service fee and the total cost of credit before you sign, and to a statement showing how each payment is allocated.
Address and operating information
The head office is at Mutualpark, Jan Smuts Drive, Pinelands, Cape Town, 7405. RCS runs a self service login and a live chat on its website alongside the telephone line, and the self service route is generally the faster way to check a balance or a due date than waiting on the customer service number.
Support and escalation routes
Raise the matter with RCS customer service first and then in writing to the complaints mailbox so there is a record. If it is unresolved, a dispute with a credit provider goes to the National Financial Ombud Scheme South Africa, which RCS itself lists in its footer on 0860 800 900, or on +27 66 473 0157 and at [email protected]. Note that those are the ombud contact details rather than an RCS line. Complaints about reckless lending or conduct under the National Credit Act go to the National Credit Regulator on 0860 627 627, quoting NCRCP 38. Suspected fraud on the account should go straight to the fraud number rather than the general queue.
