Letaba Networks, which trades as Letaba Wifi in some of the towns it serves, is a wireless and fibre internet provider across Limpopo and the eastern edge of Mpumalanga. It runs one number for the whole business and keeps unusually long hours for a regional provider.

Official contact channels

Customer support and technical support share one number, so there is no separate fault line to memorise. Fifteen hours a day and weekend cover is genuinely useful for an internet provider, since a connection tends to fail in the evening rather than during office hours.

The number is a share call line, and the digits are the same however it is grouped: the site prints it as 086 101 7488, which is the ten digit number 0861 017 488. It is not toll free.

One caution about the messaging claim. The site invites you to call or WhatsApp on that number, but the only WhatsApp links on the page are share buttons that pass the page address along rather than a chat number, and an 0861 share call line is not normally able to receive WhatsApp. If you want to message rather than call, confirm on the telephone first that WhatsApp is actually monitored, and on which number.

What this organisation provides

The provider sells fixed wireless and fibre internet to homes and businesses, along with voice over internet telephony, and it publishes a coverage checker so you can establish whether a service is available at your address before applying. Coverage is regional rather than national, running across the Mopani, Vhembe and Ehlanzeni areas, so an address outside that footprint cannot be served regardless of the package.

Address and operating information

There are thirteen walk in branches, and every one of them publishes the same telephone number and the same email address. None has a direct line of its own, so the branch list is useful for going in person rather than for reaching a particular office by phone.

An address on the site ending in example.com is placeholder text left in the page template and is not a Letaba address.

Support and escalation routes

Before you report a fault, establish whether the problem is the line or the equipment, because that determines who fixes it. A wireless service depends on line of sight to a tower, so new building work or tree growth between you and the mast can degrade a link that worked for years, and that is a different call from a router failure. Give the support agent your account number and the time the problem started.

Internet providers are licensed and regulated by the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa, and ICASA takes consumer complaints against licensees once the provider has had a fair opportunity to resolve the matter. Keep the fault reference and the dates. On the contract side, a fixed term agreement may be cancelled on twenty business days written notice under the Consumer Protection Act, subject to a reasonable cancellation penalty, and a provider may not simply refuse to release you. Complaints about the sale itself can also go to the National Consumer Commission.
