Moab Khotsong is a deep-level gold mine in the Klerksdorp goldfield, owned by Harmony. Harmony publishes a direct number for the mine itself, which is unusual for a South African mine and saves going through the Randfontein head office for anything site-specific.

What the operation is
- An underground gold mine, in production since 2003, and the youngest of Harmony deep-level South African mines
- Three vertical shaft systems serve three mining areas: the top mine, known as Great Noligwa, the middle mine, and the lower mine, which is the Zaaiplaats growth project still in development
- The orebody is the Vaal Reef, and ore is processed at the Noligwa gold plant
- Mining depth runs from 1 791 m to 3 052 m below surface, with a stated life of mine of 19 years including Zaaiplaats
Jobs at the mine
- The workforce is 6 232 people, made up of 5 108 permanent employees and 1 124 contractors, so a large share of the work on site is contractor work rather than Harmony employment
- Harmony advertises all vacancies through its own careers portal. Applications are not taken at the mine gate and there is no fee to apply
- Anyone asking you to pay for a job at a mine is running a scam. Harmony does not charge application fees and does not recruit through WhatsApp groups or agents at the gate
- Contractor positions are advertised by the contractor, not by Harmony, so ask which company you would actually be employed by
Community, complaints and reporting
- The mine publishes a Social and Labour Plan, in English and Setswana, which sets out its local employment, procurement and community commitments. It is the document to quote in a community engagement
