Ga-Rankuwa is one of seven Tshwane University of Technology campuses. TUT does not publish a public switchboard for each campus in the way most universities do; what it publishes is a single national contact centre plus a direct line to each campus office. For most student business the contact centre is the right first call, and the campus line is for something that genuinely has to be handled on site.
TUT contact centre
- Telephone: 086 110 2421
- Email: [email protected]
Ga-Rankuwa campus office
- Telephone: 012 382 0533
That number reaches the campus office rather than a department. Ask for the faculty or the section you need by name, because the office does not hold student records and cannot answer a fees or registration question itself.
The other TUT campuses
TUT is spread across three provinces and the campuses do not offer the same programmes, so the campus you deal with follows your qualification rather than your address.
- Pretoria: 012 382 4949
- Soshanguve: 012 382 9839
- Mbombela: 013 745 3500, fax 013 745 3512
- eMalahleni: 013 653 3107
- Polokwane and Giyani: no direct number published; use the contact centre
Which desk you probably want
- Applications and admission status: the contact centre, not the campus office
- Fees, statements and financial blocks: TUT student finance, which publishes its own revenue contact list
- NSFAS funding decisions: NSFAS itself; the university cannot approve or release an allowance
- Timetables, venues and lecturer contact: the faculty administrator on the campus where the programme runs
Going to campus
Ga-Rankuwa is north-west of Pretoria and is a controlled-access campus, so take your student card. If you are a visitor or an applicant, expect to sign in at the gate and to be asked who you are seeing, which means having a name or a department before you arrive rather than working it out at the boom.
Escalation
- Start at 086 110 2421 or [email protected] and ask for a reference number
- TUT runs an ethics hotline, published in the footer of its own site, for misconduct rather than service complaints
- For an unresolved complaint against a public university, the Department of Higher Education and Training and the Council on Higher Education are the external routes
