Uitenhage was officially renamed Kariega in 2021, so Volkswagen own material now gives the plant address as Kariega and a search for Uitenhage will increasingly miss it. Plant job scams in Kariega
A vehicle assembly plant in a high-unemployment region is one of the most heavily impersonated employers in South Africa. Because Volkswagen publishes no recruitment number, every number circulating as a VW vacancies line is somebody else. The pattern rarely varies: a WhatsApp message or a poster announces intake at the plant, an application or registration fee is requested, sometimes a medical fee or a fee for a uniform or transport, and then contact stops.
- There is no fee to apply for a job, a learnership, a YES placement or an apprenticeship at Volkswagen
- A genuine offer follows an application you submitted on the portal, not an unsolicited message
- No legitimate recruiter asks for your banking details before you are employed
- A real recruiter will never ask you to pay for a medical, a uniform, a training course or a placement
