The 011 number is the switchboard of Old Mutual Insure, the group’s short-term insurance business — the one that was formerly Mutual & Federal. It is not the number for a life policy or a retirement annuity. For those, 0860 933 333 is the line, and Old Mutual Insure’s own customer care number is 0860 22 55 63.

The group deliberately runs these as separate businesses with separate service numbers, which is why a call to the wrong one usually ends in a transfer rather than an answer.
