Head office runs the group. The distribution centre supplies stores. Neither of them runs a shop, and that distinction decides which number you need.
Every SPAR store is independently owned
This is the thing to understand before phoning anyone. SPAR is a voluntary trading group: each store is owned and run by an independent retailer who buys through the SPAR distribution centre. Head office does not set a store’s prices, hire its staff or control its stock. A complaint about a specific Durban SPAR — a price, a product, a staff member, a refund — goes to that store’s owner first, and to customer care only if the store does not resolve it.

- For a product complaint, keep the packaging and the batch code; the store passes it to the supplier through the distribution centre.
- Customer care on 0860 313 141 is the escalation once the store has had its chance, not the first call.

In-store services and privacy
SPAR stores carry money transfers, bill payments, prepaid airtime and electricity, bus tickets, Ticketpro and digital gift cards under the SPAR Call Us banner. A dispute about one of those is handled by the store and the service provider jointly.
