Business Online is not the same as Standard Bank’s Online Banking for Business app, which smaller business clients use. That app has its own helpdesk on 0860 109 075, option 3. If you sign in with an operator ID and a token or QR code, you are on Business Online and the numbers above apply. Standard Bank does not publish a WhatsApp number for Business Online.

What this organisation provides

Standard Bank describes Business Online as a standalone platform for enterprise banking. It covers local and cross-border payments and collections, account verification, liquidity management, trade finance through Trade Suite, forex deals, investor services and access for third-party fund administrators. PayShap payments are available through the Rapid Payments Platform. Balances are shown on the desktop platform and in the Business Online SA mobile app.

Points that often lead to a call:

  • Suspended token: three incorrect one-time passwords in a row suspend the token. The call centre resynchronises it.
  • Forgotten token: one-time passwords can go to the operator’s registered cellphone for one day or 10 sessions.
  • Lost or stolen token: a replacement is issued, but the profile’s designated person must approve it.
  • New operators: register the token within 32 days of delivery or access is suspended. First-time registration only works on the desktop application, not the app.
  • Mobile app: search for “Business Online SA”. Operators who install the app for another African country will find their credentials do not work. The app shows provisional statement transactions but not full statements, and beneficiaries can only be added or changed on desktop.

Address and operating information

Business Online runs 24/7. The contact page does not give hours for the 0860 123 007 call centre. You can change profile details, operator access and payment limits yourself through Self Administration, and Standard Bank publishes profile update forms under Help and Support. Standard Bank’s head office is at 5 Simmonds Street, Selby, Johannesburg, 2001. The bank is a registered credit provider (NCRCP15).

Support and escalation routes

  1. Call 0860 123 007 or email businessonline@standardbank.co.za, giving your operator ID but never your password or token code.
  2. If that does not resolve it, use the Business Online feedback form and choose Complaint, or speak to your Standard Bank relationship manager.
  3. Unresolved complaints go through Standard Bank’s Complaints Resolution Centre (0860 101 101) and then ComplaintsEscalations@standardbank.co.za.
  4. A business that qualifies can then refer the dispute to the National Financial Ombud Scheme on 0860 800 900 or info@nfosa.co.za.

Standard Bank’s Business Online security guidance recommends at least three people on each transaction: a capturer, a releaser and the designated person. It also recommends checking audit reports at the end of every day. An interim audit report only shows an intention to pay, so do not accept it as proof of payment. Check that the money reached your account as an electronic payment. An optional Security Lock out feature can block access to the profile at set times.
