Vodacom device insurance, which covers cellphones, tablets and laptops, has its own line: 082 1952. Call it to claim for a lost, stolen or damaged device, to track a claim or to take out cover. You can also start a claim at any Vodacom store. Vodacom’s other insurance products, sold under the VodaSure name, use different numbers, listed below. Everything here was read on vodacom.co.za, including its contact page, insurance pages, device cover brochure and insurer’s PAIA manual, on 16 September 2026.

ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory. We are not Vodacom or its insurers and cannot open, change or claim on a policy.

The Legal Assist page also shows weekend and public holiday hours of 09:00 to 14:00, although its FAQ limits legal advice to weekdays. Vodacom publishes no separate email address for device insurance claims, and it does not list call centre hours for 082 1952.

Vodacom Insurance Company’s PAIA manual gives its address as Vodacom Corporate Park, 082 Vodacom Boulevard, Midrand, 1685, with post to Private Bag X9904, Sandton, 2146. Requests for access to its records go to Lifecompliance@vodacom.co.za.

Product or service support

Device insurance is underwritten by Vodacom Insurance Company (RF) Limited, which Vodacom describes as a licensed non-life insurer. Its PAIA manual says the company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Vodacom Financial Services (Pty) Ltd. The same insurer underwrites VodaSure Legal Assist, which is administered by LIPCO Business (Pty) Ltd, an authorised financial services provider (FSP 43170). The Life Cover page links the privacy notice and PAIA manual of Vodacom Life Assurance Company Limited.

Device cover comes in three forms: comprehensive cellphone insurance against loss, theft and damage; comprehensive laptop and tablet insurance; and accidental damage only, which excludes loss and theft. Premiums start from R20 a month, cover applies worldwide, and wearables and other gadgets can be added as specified extras up to R15 000 on the comprehensive cellphone option.

Eligibility, account or policy requirements

The rules that most often decide a claim, according to Vodacom’s brochure:

  • The device must have been bought from Vodacom or an approved Vodacom dealer.
  • Insurance must be applied for within seven days of buying the device, with proof of purchase.
  • Claims must be submitted within 30 days of the loss or damage, and an excess is payable if the claim is approved.
  • The Vodacom SIM named on your policy schedule must be in the device when it is lost, stolen or damaged, or the claim is declined.
  • A lost or stolen device is replaced within 48 hours after a successful claim, through Vodacom’s dealer network.

Contract and TopUp customers can add insurance when they sign or upgrade, and it is billed with the monthly subscription. Prepaid customers apply in store, on the VodaPay app or through 082 1952.

Escalation route

  1. Report the loss or damage on 082 1952 or in a Vodacom store within the 30-day window and keep the claim reference.
  2. Track the claim on the same number, which Vodacom gives for claim updates, quoting your reference.
  3. If the insurer does not resolve it, complain free of charge to the National Financial Ombud Scheme on 0860 800 900 or info@nfosa.co.za.

If a phone is stolen, Vodacom’s contact page also lists its lost or stolen devices help and a fraud mailbox, FraudDisputes@vodacom.co.za, for fraudulent SIM swaps or new lines taken out in your name.
