Old Mutual says you can apply for a personal loan online, in a branch, via WhatsApp on 0860 933 333, or over the phone on 0860 000 866. The online page also offers a call-me-back request and a check to see whether you qualify.

Loan support
For any query about a revolving loan, including arrears arrangements and settlements, contact the Service Centre on 0860 445 445, or on 021 533 0030 from outside South Africa. You can also email OMFClientServices@oldmutual.com or visit a branch.
Old Mutual lists these personal loan terms:
- Loans from R2 000 to R250 000, repaid over 3 to 72 months at a fixed interest rate, with a maximum rate of 28% a year.
- Monthly service fee of R60 excluding VAT.
- Initiation fee of R165 plus 10% of the amount above R1 000, capped at R1 050 excluding VAT.
- Credit life cover on terms of 12 months or longer.
- Payout within 24 hours after approval, although disbursement times may vary.
Eligibility, account or policy requirements
To apply, Old Mutual says you must earn at least R2 500 a month, be aged 18 to 60, be a South African citizen, and have been permanently employed by the same employer for at least 3 months. You will need your ID, 3 months’ bank statements not older than seven days, and your latest payslip.

- Old Mutual Finance does a full credit assessment. If you are approved, the payout follows within 24 hours.
