VodaLend is the Vodacom financial services brand covering personal loans, cash advance, airtime advance, voucher advance, home loans and a loan comparison marketplace. There is no separate VodaLend website. The domain vodalend.co.za does not resolve at all, and the real pages sit on vodacom.co.za, which is worth knowing before you click a link in a message offering you a VodaLend loan.

Official contact details

Quote your identity number as the reference when you call about an application that has gone quiet. That is the reference the service centre works from, and it is what the Vodacom page itself instructs.

Who actually lends the money

VodaLend Personal Loans are provided in partnership with Old Mutual Finance, a registered credit provider under NCRCP35 and an authorised financial services provider under FSP25494. That is why the email addresses are Old Mutual ones rather than Vodacom ones, and why statements and branch visits run through Old Mutual Finance. VodaLend Compare is a different thing again: a marketplace that presents offers from several partners and leaves the choice to you.

The published lending terms

  • You must be at least 18 with a minimum monthly income of R2 500
  • The repayment term must end before you turn 60
  • You need permanent employment, or a contract longer than three months
  • Credit life insurance is included on loans of 12 months or more, as required by the National Credit Act 34 of 2005
  • Funds are paid out within about 10 minutes of approval and your authorisation of the DebiCheck mandate

Repayment runs by DebiCheck, aligned to your salary date. If the loan is approved within 14 days of your next pay date the first collection falls the following month, otherwise it falls in the same month. Applications are commonly declined for affordability, a low credit score, being under debt review or administration, or already holding an Old Mutual Finance loan less than three months old.

Settling early and getting a statement

Statements are emailed quarterly. For a settlement letter and payment instructions, call the service centre on 086 010 2209 and ask for one in writing. Do not pay a settlement amount somebody quotes you over the phone without that letter, and never into an account given to you in an email.

Spotting a fake VodaLend offer

Loan scams copy this brand heavily because the name carries a large telecommunications company behind it. A registered credit provider does not ask for an upfront fee to release a loan, and Old Mutual Finance holds NCRCP35, which you can check on the National Credit Regulator register yourself. Treat any VodaLend link that does not sit on vodacom.co.za as suspect, and start every query from the numbers above rather than from a number in the message you received.
