South African Credit Bureau Contact Details

Verified 27 September 2026Official source onlyIndependent directoryPublished by Silas T Nkoana, Cape TownReport a wrong number

There is no single company called the South African Credit Bureau: to get your credit report or dispute a listing, call one of the registered credit bureaus, such as TransUnion on 086 148 2482, Experian on 086 110 5665 or Consumer Profile Bureau (CPB) on 010 590 9505. The Credit Bureau Association (CBA) describes itself as a voluntary association of registered credit bureaus in South Africa, and its website lists the consumer numbers of its member bureaus.

This page is a routing page built on the CBA’s member list. For other lenders and credit services, browse the banking and finance hub.

Official contact channels

The CBA names the primary credit bureaus as Consumer Profile Bureau (CPB), Experian, TransUnion, Xpert Decision Systems (XDS) and Vericred. Each bureau handles its own consumer queries, so call the bureau that holds the listing you want to see or dispute:

The CBA itself does not publish a general consumer phone line or mailbox. Its website carries the bureau list, a form to lodge a complaint against one of its members, and information on POPIA disputes.

What credit bureaus provide

You are entitled to one free copy of your own credit report from each registered credit bureau once a year. Because each bureau keeps its own records, you can request a free report from every bureau on the list, not just one.

Credit bureaus also investigate disputed listings and correct or remove wrong information. To dispute a listing, follow these steps:

  1. Contact any one of the listed credit bureaus and provide the information it asks for to lodge a dispute.
  2. The bureau notifies you once the dispute is accepted, then investigates with the credit or data provider.
  3. Incorrect information is corrected or removed. The process can take up to 20 business days.

During a dispute, the credit or data provider may submit evidence that the listing is correct. If it does, the listing stays on your profile.

A note on names: the website creditbureau.co.za, which calls itself “Contact Credit Bureau SA”, belongs to Kudough Credit Solutions (Pty) Ltd, a credit report reseller. It is not an industry body and is not the CBA.

Address and operating information

The CBA does not publish a street address or office hours on its website, and it did not list hours for the member bureaus’ numbers. Check each bureau’s own website, listed above, for its hours before you call.

Support and escalation routes

If you have a complaint about how a CBA member bureau treated you, lodge it with that bureau first. CBA members must respond to a complaint within 30 days. If the complaint is not resolved, use the complaint form on the CBA website. The CBA Executive Manager then investigates and may refer the matter to an independent adjudicator.
