Nedbank Credit Card Arrangements Contact Details
If you have missed a Nedbank credit card payment, the number you want is the debt assistance line, not the general contact centre. Nedbank publishes 0801 114 949 for it, and it is a different conversation from a collections call: you are asking the bank to restructure, before it starts enforcing.
Official contact channels
- Nedbank debt assistance: 0801 114 949
- If you have a relationship banker or a business banker: 0861 100 033
- You can also request a callback within 48 hours using the debt assistance form on the Nedbank site
- Nedbank contact centre, 24 hours, if you cannot get through: 0800 555 111
- Phone before you miss the payment if you can. An arrangement made in advance is a very different negotiation from one made after a default is already listed
Arrangement, restructure or debt review
- A payment arrangement spreads a missed amount over a few months instead of demanding it in one go. Nedbank offers it on credit cards, home loans, vehicle finance, student loans and overdrafts
- A restructure extends the repayment period to lower the monthly instalment. Nedbank lists it for personal loans, home loans and vehicle finance
- Debt review is a legal process run by a registered debt counsellor who negotiates with all your creditors and gets a court-backed repayment plan. It is not something the bank arranges for you
- Debt review protects you from legal action but stops you taking any new credit until you finish and receive a clearance certificate. An arrangement does not do either
Getting the arrangement to hold
- Get the terms in writing with a reference number: the new amount, how many months, and what happens at the end
- Ask specifically whether the arrangement stops further collections calls and legal steps while you keep to it. That is the point of making one
- Ask what it does to your credit record. An arrangement that is honoured usually reads better than a default, but it is not invisible
- A restructure lowers the instalment by lengthening the term, which means you pay more interest overall. Ask for the total cost both ways before agreeing
- Keep to it. A broken arrangement is harder to negotiate a second time than the original arrears were
