The Nedbank debt review contact number is 0801 114 949, the payment problems line for clients who cannot meet their instalments. Nedbank does not publish a dedicated debt review email address. We read these details on nedbank.co.za and mfc.co.za on 23 September 2026.

Is there a Nedbank debt review email address?

Not a public one. Neither the Nedbank debt assistance pages nor the MFC help centre publishes a debt review mailbox. What they publish instead is a telephone number, 0801 114 949, and a call-back form.

The form asks which product you need help with, from home loans and vehicle or asset finance through personal loans, credit cards on either the Amex or the Visa and Mastercard side, and student loans. It also asks whether you have already identified a solution, listing payment arrangement, short-term payment relief, restructure, debt consolidation and assisted sales. Nedbank undertakes to respond within 48 hours.

Written complaints are a different matter and do have addresses: clientfeedback@nedbank.co.za for the bank generally, and complaints@mfc.co.za specifically for vehicle finance. MFC states that all complaints must be submitted in writing.

If a website or a caller gives you a “Nedbank debt review” address ending in something other than nedbank.co.za or mfc.co.za, treat it as suspect. Debt review is a field with a lot of intermediaries, and an address that does not sit on the bank’s own domain is not the bank.

Nedbank cannot put you under debt review

MFC states this plainly in its own guidance: you must approach a registered debt counsellor yourself, and the bank cannot approach one on your behalf. Phoning 0801 114 949 gets you the bank’s own relief options, not an application for debt review.

Once you are under review, the bank deals with your debt counsellor rather than with you on the restructured debt. Your counsellor obtains balance and payment statements from the payment distribution agent, and raises any dispute that those statements reveal.

You may change debt counsellors, but Nedbank reserves the right to accept or decline a second debt review application. It says it will decline one only where it has not been receiving reasonable monthly payments on the account.

If the bank terminates an account from debt review, it sends a termination letter by prepaid registered post to you, to your debt counsellor and to the regulator. Once a court grants a consent order, the bank reloads or restructures the account in line with it.

What Nedbank offers instead

The bank is open that it regards debt counselling as a last resort and says many consumers enter it prematurely. Whether you agree with that or not, it shapes what the 0801 114 949 agents will offer you first.

  • A payment arrangement, spreading missed payments over several months. Available on home loans, vehicle finance, student loans, overdrafts and credit cards.
  • A restructure, extending the repayment period to lower the instalment. Available on personal loans, home loans and vehicle finance.
  • Debt consolidation, folding several smaller loans into one monthly payment.
  • Assisted sales, where the bank helps you sell a home or vehicle rather than repossess it. Offered to MFC and home loan clients.

The bank also sets out the costs of debt review itself: no new credit for roughly three to five years, a longer repayment period, fees set under the National Credit Act, a listing at the major credit bureaus, the possibility that some accounts are excluded from the review, and the fact that spouses married in community of property must both apply.

Before you call

Have your account number and ID number ready, and know which product the trouble sits on. Home loans, vehicle finance and cards are handled by different teams, and the call is routed on that answer.

If you are already under debt review, have your debt counsellor’s details and your court order or consent order reference. The bank works from those documents.

Call before you miss the payment rather than after. Every one of the relief options above is easier to arrange on an account that is current than on one already in arrears.
