SASS is a set of initials several South African organisations use, so start with which one this is. The South African Society of Stomates is a registered non-profit run by ostomates, for people living with a colostomy, ileostomy or urostomy and the families around them. What SASS is and is not
It is a patient organisation, not a clinic and not a supplier. Its stated purpose is to bridge the gap between the private and public sectors in ostomy care and to advocate for ostomates nationally, and it publishes a Charter of Ostomates Rights setting out what a patient is entitled to expect. Nobody there will prescribe, fit or dispense anything.
If your question is clinical, use the nurse finder first
The society runs a Find a Stoma Nurse directory, and for anything about a leaking appliance, skin around the stoma, a change in output or a new pouching system, a stoma nurse is the right first call rather than the society mailbox. The site also carries a Survival Guide and a knowledge base written for new ostomates, and an Ostomy Registry that patients can join.
If your question is about product supply
SASS lists the manufacturers active in South Africa, and for stock, sizing, samples or a discontinued product you go to them, not to the society. The names on its supplier pages are B. Braun, Coloplast, ConvaTec and Hollister. The society also runs a bursary fund, which is a separate application route from any product enquiry.
