We do not publish direct telephone numbers or personal email addresses for named individuals. This page carries none, and it will not carry them if you ask.

A chef or a restaurateur is reached through the restaurant, not personally. Bookings, functions and media requests all have their own channels, and a personal line answers none of them faster.

ContactDetails.co.za is an independent directory. We have no relationship with any individual named in a search query, and we cannot pass a message to anyone.

What you probably need instead

Enquiries here are almost always a booking, a function, a media request or a supplier approach, and each has a proper route.

What you are trying to doWhere it actually goes
A table bookingThe restaurant’s own booking channel. Restaurants hold their own reservations and a group booking usually needs a deposit.
A private function or eventThe restaurant’s events contact, with the date, numbers and budget.
Media, filming or an interviewThe restaurant’s or the group’s publicity contact.
A supplier approachThe restaurant’s procurement or kitchen management, in writing, not through a personal channel.
A complaint about a mealThe manager on duty at the time. A complaint made a week later usually cannot be investigated.

Booking and complaining about a restaurant

  1. Raise a problem at the table, with the manager. A complaint made at the time can be fixed.
  2. Prices must be displayed and a service charge must be disclosed rather than added silently.
  3. Ask about allergens in person. A menu description does not list every ingredient, and shared preparation areas carry a real cross-contamination risk.
  4. A booking deposit should be paid against written terms, including the cancellation window.
  5. Suspected food poisoning goes to the municipal environmental health department, which inspects premises and can act on a pattern.

Why this page carries no personal details

The rule is applied to everyone equally, whether the request comes from a member of the public, a journalist or the person themselves.

Verified routes that can act

These are institutional routes, verified against the organisations’ own published pages.

What a restaurant owes you, and what it does not

The Consumer Protection Act applies to a meal as it does to anything else, and the boundaries are clearer than most diners assume.

Complaints and escalation

Raise it with the restaurant first. Unresolved consumer complaints go to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud on 0860 000 272, free of charge. Suspected food poisoning is a public health matter for the municipal environmental health department, which inspects food premises and can act on a pattern that a single complaint cannot.

Frequently asked questions

How do I book a restaurant table?

Through the restaurant’s own booking channel. Restaurants hold their own reservations, and a large group booking normally requires a deposit against written terms.

Someone offered me a private dinner with a well-known chef for a deposit.

Verify it with the restaurant on its own published number before paying anything, and never pay a deposit into a personal account.

Will you publish a chef's personal number?

No. We publish organisational contact routes, not individuals’ direct lines or personal email addresses.

I was unhappy with a meal but only realised afterwards.

Contact the restaurant promptly and in writing. The further from the visit, the harder it is to investigate, because staff, stock and records have all moved on.
