The fund is at Compensation House, 167 Thabo Sehume Street, Delta Heights Building, Pretoria. Its SMS line is 44967, in use from 1 April 2024: follow the prompts, and note that the department describes it as a paid-for service.

The department’s Contacts page does not label any of its numbers “toll free”. The numbers it prints in the 0800 format are the UIF line, 0800 030 007, and the National Anti-Fraud Hotline at the Public Service Commission, 0800 701 701. The Compensation Fund (0860 105 350), Inspection and Enforcement Services (0860 101 018) and the department’s fraud hotline (0860 666 883) are 0860 numbers, and the head office is an ordinary Pretoria landline, 012 309 4000. The USSD channel is *134*843#.
Department of Labour WhatsApp number
The Department of Employment and Labour’s Contacts page lists phone numbers, email addresses, the USSD code *134*843# and an online ticketing system, but no WhatsApp number. Be careful with WhatsApp numbers shared online that claim to belong to the department or the UIF, and never send your ID or banking details to them.
