There is no City of Ekurhuleni facility actually named Kwa Thema Clinic. The City clinic directory lists two clinics in Kwa-Thema, and they keep different hours, so which one you want matters. They are Selope Thema Clinic and Thembelisha Clinic, and both are covered below.
Official contact channels
- Ekurhuleni Service Call Centre: 0860 543 000, the route that connects reliably
- Selope Thema Clinic reception, as the City prints it: 119998781, which dialled in full is 011 999 8781
- Thembelisha Clinic reception, as the City prints it: 119998706, which dialled in full is 011 999 8706
- Life threatening emergencies: 10177, or 011 458 0911, or 112 from a mobile on any network
Both reception numbers are printed with the leading zero missing, which is why they show as nine digits instead of ten. This is a formatting fault in the municipal directory rather than a different kind of number: 43 of its 81 clinic rows carry the same defect. Put the 0 back and dial 011 999 and the rest.
Services and responsibilities
- Both are municipal primary health care clinics under the City Health and Social Development function
- The City publishes a Childhood Immunisation Schedule alongside the clinic directory
- The City lists the facility manager post at Selope Thema Clinic as vacant
- Substance abuse treatment is run from separate dedicated centres, not from these clinics
If you have been told to go to the clinic in Kwa-Thema for an immunisation or a repeat prescription, either of the two can normally help, but check the hours below first because they are not the same.
Office and address information
- Selope Thema Clinic: Stand No 25659, Kwa-Thema Extension 3, which the City also gives as 24659 Masabeni Street, Extension 3, Kwa-Thema
- Selope Thema operating times: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:30
- Thembelisha Clinic: 11377 Mothlaping Street, Kwa-Thema
- Thembelisha operating times: Monday to Thursday only, 07:30 to 15:30
That difference is the single most useful thing on this page. Thembelisha is listed as closing at 15:30 and as not operating on a Friday at all, while Selope Thema runs the full week to 16:30. A Friday trip to Thembelisha is a wasted trip.
Selope Thema is listed twice over, once by stand number and once by street address. They are the same place, so either will get a driver there.
Applications and escalation
- First escalation: Ekurhuleni Service Call Centre on 0860 543 000, naming the specific clinic and the date
- Name the clinic, not the suburb, when you complain, because Kwa-Thema has two and a complaint about the wrong one goes to the wrong manager
- Beyond the municipality, complaints about a health establishment go to the Office of Health Standards Compliance and the Health Ombud, whose current contact details are published on their own site
Because the facility manager seat at Selope Thema is listed as vacant, a complaint handed in at the door there may have no named owner. Logging it with the call centre and keeping the reference is the way to make it traceable.
