Warmbaths is one of eight hospitals in the Waterberg district. The others are Thabazimbi, Ellisras, Witpoort, George Masebe, Mokopane, Voortrekker and FH Odendaal.
That matters when you are referred onward. Waterberg is a large, thinly populated district, and a referral to a hospital you have not heard of may be a considerable drive. Ask which hospital, where it is, and whether provincial patient transport is arranged, because that service covers planned appointments as well as emergencies.
Clinic first, hospital second
Warmbaths Hospital is a district hospital, the first hospital-level referral for the clinics and community health centres around it. Outside an emergency, start at a clinic: it handles routine consultations, chronic medicine, immunisation, family planning and antenatal care, and it writes the referral letter.
Bring your identity document, clinic card and hospital file number, referral letter, current medicines in their packaging, and proof of income. Fees are means-tested, with pregnant women and children under six treated free of charge.
