palliativecare@medihelp.co.za: Compassionate Care Programme
palliativecare@medihelp.co.za is the address for Medihelp’s Compassionate Care Programme, run with the Association of Palliative Care Practitioners of South Africa (PALPRAC) for members with a serious illness. To register, ask your doctor to complete the programme’s application form and send it to palliativecare@medihelp.co.za. Once Medihelp approves the benefits, you and your doctor receive an email confirming the treatment plan, and if your needs change, your PALPRAC doctor submits an amended plan for approval. The programme gives access to doctor’s consultations, a list of medicine available from any pharmacy, home-based nursing by registered nurses and services from registered social workers.
Medihelp “contact me”: call-back requests
If you are looking for a new medical aid, Medihelp’s plan pages, such as the MedVital page, have a “Call me back” form where you choose your age group and city and a consultant contacts you, next to “Join now”. LifeSense, which runs Medihelp’s HIV/Aids programme, offers an SMS call-back on 31271. Existing members can log an enquiry on the Member Zone and follow it up there.
Medicine delivery and complaints
Chronic medicine on certain plans is ordered through Medipost (012 426 4000, mrx@medipost.co.za) or Dis-Chem Direct for HIV medicine (010 589 2788), and members can request medicine delivery on the Member Zone. Complaints can be lodged using the online complaint form on Medihelp’s contact page. Disputes Medihelp cannot resolve can go to the Council for Medical Schemes on 086 1123 267 or complaints@medicalschemes.com. Media enquiries go to marketing@medihelp.co.za.
