PIB Funeral Cover Contact Details

PIB, or Professional Insurance Brokers, changed its name in 2024 to MMG Financial Services, standing for Makuvhile Magwabeni Investment. The funeral cover is the same business, trading from the same offices, and the PIB name still appears on one of its branches.

Product or service support

The funeral product is sold as MTG Burial Plans. The plan table sets out six tiers, named Basic, Standard, Silver, Dignity, VIP and Executive, with principal member and spouse cover running from R10,000 on the Basic plan up to R50,000 on the Executive plan. Children aged 14 to 21 are covered from R10,000 to R30,000, children aged 6 to 13 from R5,000 to R15,000, children aged 0 to 5 from R1,500 to R4,500, and a stillborn child from six months at the same R1,500 to R4,500.

Eligibility, account or policy requirements

Head office is at Shop 2, Limdev Building, Thohoyandou Shopping Centre, Thohoyandou 0950. Other offices are at 100 Market Street in Polokwane, Entrance 5, Office N103 at Giyani Masingita Mall, Office 1201, Renaissance Centre, Gandhi Square in Johannesburg, 20 Risik Street in Louis Trichardt, and Shop L63 on the lower ground of Thavhani Mall on the R524 Punda Maria Road, on 015 962 0093, which is still signed as PIB. An emergency advice line is published as 076 962 9025.

Escalation route

MMG is an authorised financial services provider under FSP number 433, so the Financial Sector Conduct Authority regulates its conduct and an unresolved funeral policy complaint goes to the National Financial Ombud on 0860 800 900. Two cautions before you sign. Several numbers printed beside the branch numbers are labelled as faxes, specifically those ending 2881, 1807, 3073 and 2405, and will not take a call. The site also states in one place that premiums start at R70.00 a month while the plan table shows a family premium from R90.00, so confirm the premium for the specific plan and family composition in writing.
