Sanlam death claims
A death claim on a life cover or savings policy is submitted through Sanlam’s online death claims platform, by email to deathclaims@sanlam.co.za, at a client care centre, or through your financial adviser. Sanlam says it assesses the claim, asks for anything further it needs, and gives an outcome within 10 working days.
For a natural death it asks for a certified copy of the death certificate from Home Affairs, a certified copy of the deceased’s ID, a completed banking details form with proof of the account and the beneficiary’s ID, the notice of death (BI 1663) completed by the certifying doctor, and, where no beneficiary was appointed on a life policy, the letter of executorship from the Master of the High Court plus proof of the estate’s bank account.
For an unnatural or unknown cause of death it also asks for a completed SAPS statement, the judicial inquiry and post mortem report, the road accident report where a motor vehicle was involved, and blood alcohol results if a test was done. If you are unhappy with the outcome you may ask Sanlam to reconsider, or take it to the Sanlam Arbitrator.
Sanlam Sky funeral claims
Funeral claims are handled on their own channels:

- In person at a Sanlam retail branch.
Have the deceased’s personal details, the BI1663 number and the bank account details ready when you phone, because the consultant completes the claim with you on the call. The BI1663 number is in the top right corner of the notice of death form from the funeral parlour or Home Affairs. Supporting documents must not be older than three months, and an unnatural, accidental or suicide death also needs a completed police report.
Sanlam personal loans contact number
For a new Sanlam personal loan, call 0860 00 72 27 (Monday to Saturday 08:00 to 20:00, Sunday 08:00 to 14:00).
