MWEB Cape Town Contact Details

Verified 19 September 2026Updated 27 September 2026Official source onlyIndependent directoryPublished by Silas T Nkoana, Cape TownReport a wrong number

MWEB has no Cape Town branch or walk-in office. Cape Town customers use the same national numbers as everyone else: sales on 087 700 5000, technical support on 087 700 0777 and billing on 087 700 2121. You can also use live chat on the website or in the MWEB app. We read these details on MWEB’s contact page on 19 September 2026.

MWEB contact number for Cape Town customers

TeamNumberHours
Sales087 700 5000Mon to Fri 07:00 to 18:00; Sat 08:00 to 13:00; closed Sundays and public holidays
Technical Support087 700 0777Mon to Fri 07:30 to 20:00; Sat, Sun and public holidays 08:00 to 18:00
Billing087 700 2121Mon to Fri 07:30 to 20:00; Sat, Sun and public holidays 08:00 to 18:00

There is no separate Cape Town line. The three numbers differ only in the last four digits, so check which one you are dialling. The Sales team is the only one closed on Sundays. Technical Support and Billing both answer every day, including public holidays.

Is there an MWEB office in Cape Town?

No. MWEB’s contact page lists phone lines, live chat and the MWEB app, and no physical address. We also found no street address in its privacy policy or legal notices. You cannot visit an MWEB counter in Cape Town or anywhere else, so any service that needs a visit is done by the fibre network operator’s installer at your home.

Live chat and the MWEB app

  • Website live chat: click the Live Chat window in the corner of the mweb.co.za contact page.
  • MWEB app: has built-in live chat and account management. It is available on Google Play, the Apple App Store and Huawei AppGallery.
  • Online account: log in at my.mweb.co.za to track a fibre order, change your package or log a move.

Fibre in Cape Town: who does what

MWEB’s fibre FAQ says it is the internet service provider. It connects and manages your internet once the fibre infrastructure provider has finished the physical installation. It names Vumatel, Octotel and Openserve as examples of infrastructure providers, and MWEB offers packages on Octotel, which has a large network in Cape Town. In practice this means:

  • After you order, the infrastructure provider phones you to book an installation date. MWEB says installation takes an average of 14 working days once the order is ready for installation.
  • If you ordered a router, it is sent once the installation date is confirmed. Delivery takes up to 5 days.
  • After installation, it can take 2 days for the service to go live. Billing starts on the day it goes active.
  • For any connection problem, MWEB is your first point of contact on 087 700 0777. It then works with the infrastructure provider.

Switching an existing Cape Town fibre line to MWEB

If your home already has fibre with another provider, choose “transfer existing line” when you sign up. MWEB will ask for the line’s reference number, which the fibre infrastructure provider gave you when the line was installed. Existing MWEB customers can move to a fibre product by logging in to their online account, checking coverage and choosing a package. On some networks, including Octotel’s 25/25 Mbps package, MWEB offers first-time installation deals that apply only to new installations.

Outages, moving house and cancelling

  • Outages: before you call about a fault, check help.mweb.co.za/outages, which is linked from the contact page. If an outage is already logged for your area, calling will not speed up the fix.
  • Moving house: log your move at my.mweb.co.za/movement-of-premises. The line at your new address may be on a different fibre network, so give plenty of notice.
  • Cancelling: MWEB needs one calendar month’s notice. Clawback fees and waiting periods may apply. A free-to-use router must be returned in its original packaging.

Which MWEB number to call

  • New fibre order, upgrade or checking coverage at a Cape Town address: Sales, 087 700 5000.
  • No internet, slow speeds or router problems: Technical Support, 087 700 0777.
  • Invoices, debit orders or account balance: Billing, 087 700 2121.

Ask for a reference number every time you contact MWEB, and keep your live chat transcripts. They help if you have to follow up.
