Mweb is an internet service provider, not a retail chain, so there is no Johannesburg branch to walk into and no Johannesburg telephone number. What Mweb does publish is better for most problems: three separate national numbers split by what you need, so you reach the right team first time.
Local channels
- Support, for a connection that is down or faulty: 087 700 0777
- Billing, for accounts, debit orders and invoices: 087 700 2121
- Sales, for new packages and upgrades: 087 700 5000
- Live chat is published on the Mweb website and inside the Mweb app
- No Johannesburg or other city-level contact number is published
Choosing between those three matters more than it looks. A billing agent cannot run a line test and a support agent cannot reverse a debit order, so a call to the wrong one ends in a transfer and a repeated explanation.
The 087 prefix is a voice over internet number rather than a geographic or toll-free one, so it is charged at your normal call rate from anywhere in the country. There is no cost advantage to finding a local number, which is part of why none exists.
Address
- Mweb publishes no Johannesburg street address or walk-in centre
- The company operates nationally as an internet provider rather than through city branches
- Service is delivered over fibre and wireless networks to your premises, so there is no counter to visit
If you have been told to take equipment somewhere in Johannesburg, check who told you. Router returns and faulty equipment are handled through the support process and a courier, not by dropping hardware at an office.
Services at this location
- Fibre and wireless internet packages
- Web hosting, domains and premium mailboxes
- Internet security and voice calling products
- DStv Stream
- An Outages page and a Moving Home service, both published separately from the contact page
Check the outages page before phoning support about a dead connection. If a fibre network operator has a fault in your area, that is already published, and support cannot resolve it faster than the network operator repairs it.
The Moving Home process is worth starting early. Transferring a fibre line to a new address depends on the network operator at the new premises, and that is not always the same one, which can mean a new installation rather than a transfer.
Parent organisation
- Mweb is a national internet service provider and publishes a Help Centre alongside its contact numbers
- Complaints that Mweb does not resolve go to ICASA, the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa
- Where the fault lies with the fibre network operator rather than the provider, Mweb remains your contracting party and must pursue it
- Unresolved consumer complaints can also go to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud
Your contract is with Mweb even when the physical line belongs to another company. That matters when a fault drags on: you are entitled to pursue the provider you pay, rather than being sent to negotiate with an operator you have no agreement with.
