Intercity Xpress does not publish call centre hours. Its FAQ also lists third-party agents such as Computicket, Bus bud and Flightsite as places to buy tickets; for a ticket bought that way, a refund needs proof of payment and a copy of the ticket or its reference. Numbers for Intercity Xpress that differ from 010 822 9000 appear on some directory sites, but the operator’s own website shows only this customer care line.
What this organisation provides
Intercity Xpress has run long-distance luxury coaches since 2006. Its coaches have air conditioning, reclining seats, USB chargers and toilets. Routes promoted on its homepage include Tshwane to Margate and Tshwane to Durban, East Rand to Durban, Cape Town to Durban via Port Elizabeth, Port Elizabeth to Durban, and Tshwane to Matatiele, with a Cape Town to Upington route marked as coming soon. For budget travel the site points to Eagle Liner, which shares Intercity’s conditions of carriage, and it links to Intercity Charter and to BusBucks, a loyalty programme that Intercity says pays back 10% of each purchase in rands.

Bring your ticket or reference number and your ID. Each passenger may take one suitcase of up to 25kg free plus hand luggage; the FAQ puts extra weight at R5 per kg.
Support and escalation routes
Intercity’s conditions of carriage set the refund rules. More than 24 hours before departure, a refund or reschedule costs a R50 admin fee and a refund takes 21 days, excluding weekends. Within 24 hours there is no cash refund and a reschedule costs R70, rising to R100 on the day of travel between three hours and one hour before departure. Less than an hour before, there is no refund or rescheduling. The FAQ separately mentions a 20% cancellation fee, so confirm the charge with customer care before you cancel.
