There is no hotel in Durban called the Marine Parade Hotel. There are two hotels on Marine Parade with the word Parade in the name, standing about twelve doors apart on the same beachfront road, and either one can be what a booking, an invoice or a lift driver means. The road itself was renamed O.R. Tambo Parade, which is why the street name on a confirmation may not match the one you searched for. Both sets of details below were read from the hotels’ own sites on 6 September 2026.
Garden Court Marine Parade
- Telephone: +27 31 337 3341
- Reservations: [email protected]
- Address: 167 O.R. Tambo Parade, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal
This is the Southern Sun property – a 352-room hotel on the Golden Mile with conference capacity for up to 350 delegates. It is the larger of the two and the one most often meant when a company books a block of rooms. The mailbox is a departmental reservations address rather than a person, so it survives staff changes.
The Parade Hotel
- Telephone: +27 31 337 4565
- Fax: +27 31 332 0251
- Reservations: [email protected]
- Address: 191 O.R. Tambo Parade, North Beach, Durban
- Postal address: PO Box 10693, Marine Parade, 4056
This is an independent hotel at the North Beach end, and it still trades under the plain name Parade Hotel. Its own site prints the address as 191 O.R. Tambo / Marine Parade, carrying both names, and its postal address still uses Marine Parade with the 4056 code.
Telling them apart on the phone
The two switchboard numbers differ only in the last four digits – 3341 against 4565 – and both are 031 337 numbers, so a digit misheard over a bad line lands you at the wrong front desk. The reliable check is the street number: 167 is the Garden Court, 191 is the Parade. If you are confirming a booking someone else made, read back the street number rather than the hotel name.
Three things to settle before you arrive
- Parking on the Golden Mile is not automatic. Ask what the hotel provides and what it costs per night, because street parking on the beachfront is not a substitute.
- A rate quoted through a booking site is not the hotel’s rate. Changes and cancellations on those bookings have to go back through the site, not through the numbers above.
- Ask which entrance is in use after dark. Both properties front onto a busy beachfront road and the door you walked in by at midday may not be the one open at night.
