Vodacom Funeral Cover Contact Details
Vodacom funeral cover is sold as VodaSure Funeral Cover and its policies are administered under Vodacom Life. The contact details below were read from vodacom.co.za on 2 September 2026.
Official provider route
- Claims and policy servicing: 082 178 00
- Claims email: claims@vodacomlife.co.za
- Online sales: 082 17844
- Vodacom customer care: 082 135
These are Vodacom short codes, not standard ten-digit numbers. The claims and servicing line is eight digits, dialled as 08217800, and sales is 08217844 – Vodacom writes the first with a space in the middle, which makes it look truncated. They are correct as published.
082 178 00 is the number that matters. Vodacom lists the same line for three different things: submitting a claim, making changes to your cover, and arranging a special debit if a premium is going to miss. 082 135 is general Vodacom customer care for phones and airtime – it is not the insurance desk.
Note the claims mailbox is on vodacomlife.co.za, not vodacom.co.za.
Product or service support
Vodacom advertises cover of up to R50,000 from R64 a month, covering you, your spouse and up to six children at no extra cost, with optional extras from R10 a month including body repatriation anywhere in South Africa and a funeral support package.
It states that valid claims are paid within 24 hours of all required documents being submitted. Read that carefully – the clock starts when the last document lands, not when you first phone. The claims process it publishes is three steps: call or email, a claims consultant tells you which documents are needed, then payment follows once they are all in.
Ask which documents are needed at the first call and get the list in writing. A death certificate, the deceased’s ID and the claimant’s ID are usually only the start, and a missing document is what turns a 24-hour promise into weeks.
Eligibility, account or policy requirements
Premiums must be up to date for a claim to pay. That is why Vodacom publishes a special-debit arrangement on the same servicing number – if a premium is going to miss, phone 082 178 00 before the debit date rather than after. A lapsed funeral policy is the most common reason a family discovers there is no cover at the worst possible moment.
Two things to confirm in writing when the policy is quiet: when cover actually starts – Vodacom publishes a specific FAQ on this, and funeral policies normally carry a waiting period during which natural-cause death is not covered – and exactly which family members are covered and to what age. Advertised prices assume particular ages and cover levels.
The advertised 30% discount applies to applying online rather than by phone, so the price quoted on a call may differ from the one on the website.
Escalation route
Raise a claim or policy dispute on 082 178 00 or claims@vodacomlife.co.za, quoting the policy number and the dates, and keep the reference.
If a claim is declined, ask for the decision in writing with the policy clause relied on. You cannot challenge a reason you have not been given, and a verbal explanation is not something you can take to an ombud.
Funeral cover is long-term insurance, so an unresolved dispute goes to the National Financial Ombud Scheme free of charge. Conduct by the insurer or an adviser goes to the Financial Sector Conduct Authority. Because the policy is sold by a mobile operator, a complaint about how it was sold – for example added to an account without clear consent – can also go to the FSCA, and a personal information complaint to the Information Regulator.
