Mediclinic Southern Africa runs a central Engagement Centre, but individual hospitals and day clinics publish their own numbers. The contact details below were read from mediclinic.co.za on 2 September 2026.
Official contact channels
- Engagement Centre hotline: 0860 24 00 24
- International: +27 21 809 3972
- Email: engage@mediclinic.co.za
- WhatsApp: send the word “Engage” to 087 240 6367
- SMS: send “Engage” to 30945
The WhatsApp and SMS routes need the keyword. Send “Engage” – a plain message may not start the conversation. Web chat is also available through the Support button on Mediclinic’s site.
The Engagement Centre is not an emergency number. In a medical emergency, dial 10177 for ambulance services or 112 from a mobile. Mediclinic’s associated emergency service, ER24, operates on 084 124.
What this organisation provides
Mediclinic operates private hospitals and day clinics across South Africa and Namibia, along with a specialist institute and a health library.
For anything about a specific admission, account or appointment, use the hospital rather than the hotline. Mediclinic publishes a Find a Hospital facility with the contact details for each hospital and day clinic – that is where the patient records, the ward and the billing sit. The Engagement Centre handles general enquiries and routing.
Several services have their own routes:
- Mediclinic Baby, 24/7 helpline: 0860 233 333, mediclinicbaby@mediclinic.co.za
- Mediclinic Prime: mediclinicprime@mediclinic.co.za
- Careers, South African candidates: 0800 027 547, careers.mediclinic.co.za
- Careers, Namibian candidates: +27 21 809 6869
- Higher education: 021 809 6698, education.mediclinic.co.za
- Doctor and practice opportunities: practice@mediclinic.co.za
The Mediclinic Baby helpline runs 24 hours, which makes it the one line here that answers at night – though it is a parenting and baby-care support service, not emergency care.
Address and operating information
Mediclinic publishes no single head office street address on its contact page – the Engagement Centre and the Find a Hospital directory are the published routes. The international number is a Western Cape landline, which is where the group is headquartered.
Hospital visiting hours, admissions requirements and pre-authorisation processes are set per hospital, so check with the specific facility rather than assuming a group-wide rule.
Support and escalation routes
Mediclinic publishes a Patient Compliments and Complaints form for feedback on care. Use it rather than the general hotline for a clinical complaint – it creates the record, and complaints handled informally by phone tend to leave nothing to escalate.
Get pre-authorisation from your medical scheme before a planned admission. A hospital account and a scheme decision are separate things – the hospital bills for care given, while the scheme decides what it pays, and an unauthorised admission can leave you liable for a shortfall.
Beyond Mediclinic, the professional conduct of a doctor, nurse or allied practitioner goes to the Health Professions Council of South Africa or the South African Nursing Council. A dispute over what a scheme paid goes to the Council for Medical Schemes, free of charge. A billing or service complaint falls under the Consumer Protection Act and the National Consumer Commission, and a complaint about your health records to the Information Regulator – health data carries stricter POPIA protection than ordinary personal information.
