OUTsurance roadside assistance is branded Help@OUT and runs on its own number, staffed 24 hours a day. It is not the claims line, and calling the claims number in a breakdown wastes time.
Task scope
Help@OUT covers a breakdown, an accident, a flat tyre, a flat battery or keys locked in the vehicle. It also covers home and office emergencies and an app based panic function, but this page is about the roadside side of it.

- Claims, a different line: 08 600 70 000
Requirements
Roadside assistance is available to OUTsurance car insurance clients in South Africa. It carries an annual limit of R5,000 and a maximum of two incidents per insured vehicle. Help@OUT will still come out once those limits are used up, but the cost of the call is then yours. Materials and parts are always for your own account.
Steps
Call the number or use the OUTsurance app. For a breakdown OUTsurance arranges towing and stays in contact until help arrives, and covers the towing and storage costs. For a flat battery, a flat tyre or keys locked in the car it pays the call-out fee and the first hour of labour. If the breakdown happens more than 50 km from home, it arranges overnight accommodation or alternative transport and covers getting the car home.
Escalation
Help@OUT arranges assistance; it does not settle the insurance claim that may follow an accident, which goes to 08 600 70 000 or cc@out.co.za. A complaint about how a call was handled goes to compliance@out.co.za or +27 12 688 6800, and then to the National Financial Ombud on 0860 800 900. One caution about the published numbers: several OUTsurance pages carry a telephone link whose underlying number ends in an extra 1 while the number printed on screen ends in 0. The printed number, 08 600 60 000, is the correct one.
