Standard Bank has no Blue Bean division and no Blue Bean contact number. The card does not appear anywhere in its current range, and there is a separate, similarly named card still on sale that is a different product.

Task scope

This covers people holding or remembering a BlueBean card and looking for the desk that ran it, and people who have found the name and want to know whether they can still apply.

Route

Requirements

BlueBean is absent from the Standard Bank card list, from the card comparison page, and from the site altogether; the address where such a card page would sit returns a not found error. There is therefore no dedicated division to ask for. If you hold a card that was issued under that name, it will now be administered as an ordinary Standard Bank card account, and personal banking is the route to it.

Steps

The card currently sold with a similar name is the Blue Credit Card, which is a different product. It carries a R40.00 monthly fee, needs a minimum monthly income of R5,000, allows a credit limit up to R250,000 and charges a personalised interest rate. You pay no interest if you settle the balance in full within 55 days, or make minimum monthly repayments of 3 percent, and it earns UCount Rewards points.

Escalation

Have the card number or account number ready, since a discontinued brand name will not identify the account on the bank system. If the bank cannot resolve the matter, a banking complaint goes to the complaint resolution centre first and then to the National Financial Ombud on 0860 800 900, with the National Credit Regulator on 0860 627 627 for the credit agreement itself.
