MoneyShop Contact Details
MoneyShop publishes no telephone number and no email address anywhere on its site. Its contact-us page does not exist, and the homepage carries no tel or mailto link at all. What it does publish is an address and the name of the company behind it, and those are what you need.
What MoneyShop publishes
- Address: 9th Floor, Atrium On 5th, 5th Street, Sandhurst, Johannesburg, 2196
- Operator: MoneyShop.co.za is owned and operated by Olico BigLead
- Olico BigLead is a member of the Direct Marketing Association of South Africa
- A PAIA manual is downloadable from the site footer
- There is an unsubscribe from marketing link in the footer
The absence of a telephone number is not an oversight. Understand what the site is and the design makes sense.
MoneyShop is not a lender
It is a comparison and lead-generation site. You complete a form for a personal loan, a credit card, a short-term loan, debt consolidation, debt counselling or debt mediation, and your details are passed to providers who then contact you. Every application link on the site is a redirect to a partner. So there is no loan account at MoneyShop, no balance it can quote and no repayment it can take, and a call centre would have nothing to tell you.
This matters if you are getting calls. If several lenders phoned you shortly after using a comparison site, that is the product working as designed rather than a leak. It also means that the answer to a question about your actual loan lies with whichever lender you were passed to, not here.
Stopping the marketing
Use the unsubscribe from marketing link in the site footer first. Because the operator is a member of the Direct Marketing Association of South Africa, you can also use that association complaint and opt-out process. Separately, the Protection of Personal Information Act gives you the right to object to direct marketing and to demand that a company stop processing your details for it, and to ask what it holds about you. The PAIA manual on the site is the formal route for the second of those.
Before you use any loan comparison site
- Ask which lender your application is going to, and check that lender on the National Credit Regulator register yourself
- A comparison site is paid for the lead, so the ranking you see is not neutral advice
- Never pay a fee to be matched with a lender; a legitimate credit provider deducts nothing before advancing money
- Your credit record is affected by the lender enquiry, not by the comparison, so do not scatter applications
If you have a complaint
Complain to the lender first, because the credit agreement is with them. If the complaint is about the marketing or about how your personal information was used, that is the Information Regulator for a data matter and the Direct Marketing Association for a marketing one. A complaint about a credit agreement itself belongs with the National Credit Regulator.
