Absa Service Plan Contact Details
Absa’s sitemap and the insurance and vehicle pages we read list no product called a service plan or a relief plan. The hospital cash back cover people search for is Absa Life’s Health Assistance Cover: claims and queries are handled by Absa Life on 0860 227 253, and completed claim forms are emailed to lifeclaims@absa.co.za. We read Absa’s life insurance pages on absa.co.za on 16 September 2026.

Absa does not publish a separate phone number or WhatsApp line for Health Assistance Cover. On car cover, Absa’s value-added products are warranties and insurance (a Mechanical Breakdown Warranty, a Booster Warranty, and tyre and rim, and scratch and dent cover), not a service plan; the warranty line above is the one Absa’s vehicle insurance page gives for those claims, although its Talk to us directory lists 0860 000 786 and absa@za.innovation-group.com for warranty instead.
Absa Life Limited is registration number 1992/001738/06; Absa’s footer gives the group head office as Absa Towers West, 15 Troye Street, Johannesburg. Absa’s how to submit a claim page lists Absa Life among the lines open on weekdays from 08:00 to 16:30.
Product or service support
Health Assistance Cover is sold by Absa Life Limited, a licensed life insurer (I121, FSP 36116). It pays cash while you are in hospital: up to R1 000 for every day that you or your spouse are admitted, paid into your account after discharge. An admission to a high-care unit or ICU adds 50% of your chosen benefit, up to the regulatory maximum.
On COVID-19, Absa Life’s claims page states that the virus is not a specific exclusion on Absa Life or Instant Life policies, and that a claim resulting from it is covered under life, hospitalisation and temporary disability benefits, subject to the policy’s general terms. That statement is the nearest thing on Absa’s site to a COVID relief plan.
Eligibility, account or policy requirements
You can cover yourself, your spouse, children under 25 and up to four parents, and accidents are covered from the start. Absa stresses that this is not a medical scheme and does not replace medical scheme membership.
For a Health Assistance claim, Absa Life asks for the completed claim form with a copy of the full hospital invoice, the ID of the claimant and of the insured member if that is not the main member, and proof of address no older than three months. Add proof of banking details, also no older than three months, if the money must go to a bank other than Absa. Where they apply, include the hospital file with ward notes, the admission and discharge summary, paramedic, police or accident reports, and for a longer stay a letter of motivation with test results, operation reports and emergency room notes.
Absa also warns that a benefit nobody claims stays unpaid until it is rightfully claimed, so keep your own and your beneficiaries’ contact details up to date.
Escalation route
- Follow up a claim with Absa Life on 0860 227 253, quoting the policy and claim numbers.
- If the claim is declined or delayed without explanation, complain to Absa’s Complaint Resolution Suite on 0800 41 41 41 or actionline@absa.co.za.
- Unresolved disputes with a life insurer go to the National Financial Ombud Scheme on 0860 800 900 or info@nfosa.co.za. The Council for Medical Schemes deals with medical schemes, which Absa says this cover is not.
